Haute {couture} Headwear
the restThese gorgeous images from Estelle Michaelides caught my eye this week.
They made me forget for a moment that we’ve still got to get through winter before the spring racing carnival is upon us.
Estelle Michaelides will be the milliner to watch at this years carnival, with her limited edition head pieces.
Having just returned from Paris and previously London where she spent time with Milliner Katherine Franklin Adams, Estelle is ready to make her mark.
With materials sourced from around the globe, including silk flowers and vintage trims, the pieces are not only perfect for spring racing, but would also make a stand out piece for brides wishing give the traditional veil a miss.
To view Estelle’s gorgeous millenery designs, head into The Estelle Store, 382 Smith Street, Collingwood or visit www.estellemichaelides.com.au
Party In The {window}!
media and press, parties, the restIt was a gorgeous day in Melbourne today, just perfect for a stroll down High Street in Armadale.
I was thrilled to see my new ‘baby’ down there today – Function Accessories has a gorgeous window display of our new children’s invitation range.
I just love the way they’ve styled it – the classic white chairs, the tulips, pretty boxes with ribbon and the vase wrapped in fabric – all simple and gorgeous ideas for styling your own party.
My vision when designing the children’s invitation range was that the elements of a party don’t need to be all matchy matchy, the colours and patterns can theme in with any number of ready available items – the invitations are a starting point for your creativity! Function Accessories have captured just that in their window display.
If you’re in Melbourne, make sure you head down to Function Accessories and see Paul and Jill to discuss your children’s party styling requirements.

Alannah Rose Party – Elle’s One Lala {bird} Party
alannah rose parties, baby, partiesI love it when clients share their celebration photos with me, so I was thrilled when clever mum Marissa emailed through these gorgeous shots of her daughter Elle’s 1st Birthday last Sunday.
Using a our One Little Lala Bird invitations as a base, she put together a pretty pink and red theme.
Marissa made all the little details including the party hats. The cake was made by Nikos Quality Cakes in Oakleigh. I particularly love how she’s used an invitation on the top of the cake stand to further theme in the little lala bird and our one lala party tags are the perfect finishing touch.
Thanks so much for sharing Marissa, and happy birthday Elle!

Alannah Rose {wedding} – Tony & Katelyn
alannah rose weddings, weddingsI’ve got another gorgeous wedding to share with you today – the wedding of Tony & Katelyn.
Tony and Katelyn were married in Wollongong in NSW on Sunday 3 May 2009. They chose our Embellish Wedding Invitations and Stationery suite – which was a perfect fit with their elegant and classic theme.
Katelyn’s dress made by Maria Gonzales in Melbourne, was ivory duchess satin with a cathedral length veil made of English tuille with French bordered lace. Sequins and beading were hand stitched into the shoulders of the dress.
The wedding ceremony was held at Saint Dimitrija Solunski Macedonian Orthodox Church in Wollongong. The signing of the Marriage Certificate took place to the tune of ‘Ave Maria’ (Schubert) sung by wedding ceremony vocalist Serafina Minns.
The wedding incorporated a beautiful mix of both Australian and Macedonian celebration and tradition.
Katelyn (who is Australian) spoke a section of her wedding speech dedicated to her mother in law and father in law in Macedonian – a tribute to them and their heritage;
The Wedding Reception incorporated traditional Macedonian dancing by a live Macedonian band. The Bride led her dance with a crocheted embroidered tasselled handkerchief (a Macedonian tradition). The Bride’s handkerchief belonged to her late maternal grandmother;
Red was used as a highlight colour throughout the wedding to contrast against the traditional black & white elements: The Bride’s teardrop bouquet of blood red magnum roses matched her Chanel red lipstick; the Bridesmaids bouquets by Flower Bud were made up of green singapore orchids, purple lissianthers, xanadu leaves, green succulents and dotted vine, and were designed to provide a bold contrast to the Bridesmaid’s red dresses by Hannii Chan and the accompanying red ties of the Groomsmen. Red rose petals were thrown at the Bride and Groom as they left the church; fresh blood red magnum roses adorned the 3 tier dark mud and white chocolate wedding cake by Delaney’s cakes.
A highlight of the wedding reception was the entrance by the bride and groom.
Tony and Katelyn entered the wedding reception venue with their bridal dance – ‘Come Fly With Me’ by Frank Sinatra (Tony is a pilot).
Says Katelyn “We did 4 months of private dance classes as we wanted to do something different with our bridal dance rather than the traditional waltz, we wanted to wow our wedding guests – and we did – we received a standing ovation from our guests at our wedding reception!”
“The dance was a tricky, up tempo choreographed routine incorporating swing, the jive, promenade runs, a bit of jazz and the groom at one stage picking up the bride and spinning her around, ending with a finale of the bride dropping horizontally to the floor with one hand holding onto the groom’s hand as he stood up straight and then pulling the bride back up!!”
The gorgeous wedding photography was taken by local photographer Ben Marden, you can view more of Ben’s gorgeous work on his website.
Congratulations Tony and Katelyn – it looks like you had an amazing day, it was a pleasure working with you. xx
